Go Diving With The Traditional Balinese Outrigger Boats

Traditional Balinese outrigger boats are available for the dives to Gili Tepekong and Gili Mimpang, which take barely five minutes to reach the dive sites on the striking rocks jutting out of the water. Sharks and, depending on the season, moonfish and schools of fish await divers here. Even if you do 2 or 3 dives at these gilis every day, you won’t get bored. A little further away, about 20 minutes, you reach Gili Biaha where you can find a cave with sharks, steep walls with shoals of fish round off the dive site. Further diving destinations are offered by minibus, trips to the wreck of the ‘Liberty’ in Tulamben and to the steep reef in Amed. From Padang Bay, speedboats take you to Nusa Penida or Nusa Lembogan with the chance of encountering moonfish in the summer months as well as everything else that makes Bali worth diving.

Wreck diving

A coral settlement project makes the dive site very interesting. Between the pyramid-like concrete structures dozens of very dark blue rays are traveling. The pyramids are now heavily overgrown, very colorful and full of young fish swarms. Who has a good eye, can sometimes discover a tiny pygmy seahorses between gorgonians

In this beautifully vegetated dropoff there are grottos and caves where sleeping white tip sharks hide. The flow can make the dive site demanding.

Spectacular lava rock, which rises more than 60 meter out of the water. The famous Canon in the south can only dived on a few days and only by very experienced divers. In the caves on the north side mostly young white tip sharks. This side is pleasant to dive and also bestows inexperienced divers a great experience.

Very nice dive site, but by changing currents and temperatures also has a certain claim. Tthe divers will be rewarded with many Squids and schooling fish. Also the ocean sunfish can pass here.

A shallow lagoon which drops slowly into the open sea. It is rich in coral and schooling fish. Fans of smaller species will enjoy the place.

The name says it all: Here, in Nusa Penida the chance of Mantas come to very high. This dive site is also suitable for inexperienced divers.

The Crystal Bay can sometimes be quite cool. But this is also a reason that here the chance of ocean sunfish is among the highest of all. In the bay can also observe the rare but harmless black and white banded sea snakes. Outside the bay the flow is very strong.

The cargo ship off the coast at Tulamben is the most famous wreck of Bali and has become a dense artificial reef. Spectacular, but rarely observed, is the vast field of garden eels before the wreck.

Magnificent gorgonians and colorful coral decorate the vertically cascading reef. Numerous large shoals pull over here that can also attract one or the other robbers. Who has a good eye, can sometimes discover a tiny pygmy seahorses between gorgonians.
