Overview

A classic and very popular marine park route in the Red Sea, combining the historic wrecks and reefs of the north with the big fish action at the Brothers Islands.

Check dive in Abu Hasheesh Bay or a similar coastal spot. Trip to Shaab El Erg reef ("Dolphin House"). Night dive in the protected lagoon.

Wreck dives at Abu Nuhas (ship graveyard), e.g. Giannis D or Carnatic. Trip to the Gobal Strait, to the lagoon of Shaab Mahmoudat. Night dive (with optional dive at the Dunraven wreck).

Trip to Ras Mohamed National Park. Dive at the famous Shark and Yolanda Reefs (drift dive, schools of fish). Dive at the SS Thistlegorm (legendary World War II wreck). In the evening, the overnight trip to the Brothers Islands begins.

Brothers Islands (Marine Park): Full day of diving at Big Brother and Little Brother. Little Brother is known for its steep walls densely covered with soft corals and the high chance of seeing thresher sharks. Overnight stay on site. Night diving is prohibited here.

Further dives at Big Brother. Here lie the deep wrecks of the Numidia and the Aida II, which are fantastically overgrown. Observation of grey reef sharks and oceanic whitetip sharks (Longimanus). After the last dive, the return trip to the coast to Safaga/Soma Bay begins.

Salem Express (ferry wreck). This dive is technically easy, but often emotional. Panorama Reef (one of the best reefs in Safaga). A drift dive, known for its steep walls, huge coral gardens and large fish. Return to Safaga/Soma Bay Marina.

South of Shaab Sheer lies in 30 meters depth the wreck of the Salem Express. The 110 meter long RoRo ferry sank on 14 December 1991 in a few minutes and tear, according to rough estimates, more than 800 people to their deaths.

The Thistlegorm is probably the most famous wreck of the Red Sea. It lies on the eastern side of the road from Gubal and is especially known for his bulging cargo spaces in which are motorcycles and trucks.

The Kimon M is also known as lenses freighter because of thes charge. The bow protrudes slightly out of the water. The destroyed stern lies at the deepest point at 30 meters.

The once in Travemünde spilled from the stack Chrisola K failed 1981 the reef of Abu Nuhas. The "tiles Freighter" is quite badly damaged. This requires for the diver a special attention.

The steamboat Carnatic is considered as one of the finest wrecks in the Red Sea. The ship had wine and allegedly even gold loaded, sank 1869. From the wreck lying on its side, the fuselage envelope is really just obtained. The partially dissolved planks offer photographers bizarre motifs. The ship had, moreover, a brief guest appearance in Jules Verne's novel "Around the World in 80 Days".

The machine room and the well divable bridge are the highlights of the freighter, which failed on the reef of Abu Nuhas in 1983. Coveted was its cargo of tropical wood.

The Dolphin House is the western point of the reef complex of Shaab el Erg. The chance of the encounter with a pod of dolphins is very large.

The reef surrounds an island and lies on a wide, flat, sandy plateau (approx. 10 to 20 metres deep), which merges into a steep slope (drop-off). A lagoon to the south offers sheltered anchorages.

It is a large, elongated reef that encloses an extensive, shallow lagoon. This lagoon often serves as a sheltered anchorage for ships overnight.
The main attraction is the wreck of the British merchant ship Dunraven, which ran aground on the reef and sank in 1876. Today, the ship lies keel up (upside down) at a depth of 15 to 30 metres and is broken into two large pieces.

A top Egypt dive destination, the two Brother islands are for advanced divers who have completed at least 50 dives. For those who venture to the islands, this magnificent dive area is home to dazzling coral reefs and wonderful wrecks and you can even swim alongside whitetip and hammerhead sharks. The dive conditions here are very challenging with exposed areas and strong currents.
